You Need Community, Mama
You need community, Mama! I’m doing just fine on my own. It’s easier to stay home and stick to my routine. People add too much drama. Are these familiar phrases? More like, excuses to keep you on your island. Islands are great if surrounded by water, beautiful sand and a much-needed ice-cold fruity beverage. That is what we call a vacation. However, in your everyday rhythm of life it gets old trying to do everything by yourself. Are you tired of just hearing your own echoes bouncing off the walls of your mind? If so, keep reading because I have good news for you.
1. You Were Created for Community.
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
Hebrews 10:24-25
Community is a part of your DNA. God is relational and we are a direct reflection of Him. Sure, you can try to go it alone, but at the end of the day there is an ache inside to connect and share life with others. So, make the time to gather around the table with other Mamas. This will refuel and refresh your soul.
2. It’s More Fun to Laugh with Other Mamas.
You may not do it very often, but LAUGHTER is so important and even better laughing with other Mamas. Laughter helps to shake off the heavy weight of your to-do-list. Laughter sheds off the seriousness that we as Mamas create in our everyday routine. In fact, sometimes we just take ourselves a little too serious. Learn to chuckle at yourself. Even better, shares stories about your journey with other Mamas and giggle together. You will find so much freedom in just laughing with your community. Giggling leads to a smile which turns a frown upside down. Can I get another cup of laughter please?
3. You Can Learn from Others.
Being a part of a community allows you to learn new things. Having other people in your circle with different ideas, talents and unique skills can be positive for your growth as a mom. You can share stories of your journey and you will be amazed at those in your community who have experienced that same situation. Instead of spending money on the next “How to Be a More Engaged Mom,” you can get free advice from other Mamas that you surround yourself with. There is so much gold in the midst of community. Bring your bucket and gather all of the wonderful treasures from Mamas of every stage of life. You will be richer because of it.
As Iron Sharpens Iron, So One Person Sharpens Another. -Proverbs 27:17
4. You Need a New Perspective.
Perspective, the mental view or outlook that we see through our own lens.
It’s easy to get caught up in the tunnel vision of our lives. We only see what we see. Sometimes we get on board the merry-go-round of our routine and need someone to help us step off and regroup. Mama, you have blind spots and having a community can help you see from a different viewpoint. We need someone from the outside to look in and help us to notice things that might not be working.
5. Help is Included with Community.
This one is my favorites, with Community comes Mamas that are willing to help. First, if you need advice, a babysitter, the best chocolate chip cookie recipe or even just a girl’s night out, you have a community of women who have your back. Second, community supports one another. Third, if you’re going through a tough time, other Mamas know how to cheer you up. Finally, you have ears that will listen and hearts that accept and love you. You have arms that will hug you. Most importantly, you have a lifetime of shoulders to cry on.

Final Thoughts
You are woman, maybe even superwoman, but even heros need support. A hero finds their strength in the support of their people or community. In the same way, sure you can do life okay by yourself, but why not live an extraordinary life by surrounding yourself with like minded Mamas who can help you soar to the next level while laughing along the way.
